Extended 90-Minute Sessions
Does it feel like 50-minutes of therapy just isn't enough?

Do you just get to the heart of a session and then it comes to an end?

Sense that with a little more time you would get closer to the progress you are craving?
A 90-minute session gives you more time to focus on your healing and process your trauma without feeling rushed and offers several advantages compared to shorter weekly 50-minute sessions.
Here are some of the benefits:
More Efficient & Effective
When EMDR is incorporated into weekly therapy sessions, trauma reprocessing work is often split into 20 to 30 minute chunks that are spread out over the course of weeks or months. This can interfere with the effectiveness of the treatment as each EMDR session requires time to fully activate the reprocessing experience. This may also lead to extended periods of higher anxiety or depression in between sessions as it can take several sessions to clear your specific EMDR targets.
Increased Comfort
With extended sessions, there’s more time to establish a sense of safety and build trust with me, leading to a more comfortable therapeutic experience. Typically EMDR is a shorter term adjunctive treatment, but rapport can be built just as quickly as with a talk therapist.
Enhanced Connectivity
Extended sessions provide an opportunity to delve deeper into the root causes of issues and establish stronger connections between thoughts, emotions, behaviors and somatic experiences. They also allow more time to reduce distress in the moment and then reflect upon this experience.

Deeper Processing
Longer sessions allow for more in-depth exploration and processing of traumatic memories or distressing experiences, leading to more profound healing. The 90-minute model allows for more complete processing each session.
Flexible Scheduling
Some clients may decide to attend multiple 90-minute EMDR sessions a week to increase their processing experience, while others may decide to attend one or two a month. This model doesn't require you to take a full day off of work, and can be scheduled based on your needs and availability. Typically, a lot of work can be accomplished in 3-7 extended EMDR sessions.
